The Inter-American Society of Cardiology (SIAC) through its community council SIAComunidad launched a health promotion campaign called “Por el corazón de América” (“For the Heart of America”) in April. We have documented its progress on our news section during the month of May in two articles (“SIAComunidad progresses steadily in the number of activities for World Hypertension Day” and “SIAComunidad’s ‘For the American Heart’ initiatives peak for World Hypertension Day“).
Its first action implemented a campaign for the knowledge, detection and control of arterial hypertension in America in cooperation with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Heart Federation (WHF). Given the theme, it was convened by the Latin American Society of Arterial Hypertension (LASH) as a co-organizer.
This campaign was held from Thursday, May 17 until Wednesday, May 23, under the theme #ConoceTusNúmeros (#KnowYourNumbers).
The results have been extraordinary:
Countries participating: 16
Locations: 70
Institutions: 139
Activities recorded: 296
Twitter impressions: 133,198
We invite you to be part of our next challenge in the World Heart Day week when we will once again encourage engagement “Por el corazón de América” (“For the Heart of America”)!
