Raising awareness and driving action on medical and cardiac emergencies were the two pillars of the Global Heart Hub‘s COVID Response Campaign. In this way, cardiac patients were encouraged to be proactive in seeking care, as well as healthcare providers and systems to prioritize their treatment.
This campaign was divided into 3 categories, each of which is represented by a different hashtag:
An unexpected outcome of COVID-19’s “#StayHome” message was the elevated fear of seeing a doctor or visiting the hospital. However, in order to increase consciousness about cardiac events, the #StayHome campaign was given a twist and adapted to #JustGo, which indicates that if you are experiencing a cardiac or stroke emergency, this is not the time to delay or remain at your house.
The second #StepUp campaign referred to taking responsibility for your heart health by recognizing and tracking signs and symptoms, contacting your health care provider, and following your treatment plan.
Finally, there was a call to action, even though we know that today, despite being in the midst of a pandemic, we face an unprecedented burden of heart disease. For this reason, and because time is crucial, we urge you to #JustTreat.
The resources used for this campaign consisted of a toolkit with multiple assets: video animations, patient videos of our affiliates, social media graphics, as well as tips and an editorial calendar.
The campaign was noted for its international character, reaching 24 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States.
