She opens up about her 18 years in a hospital in Soweto, a township in Johannesburg, and about her subsequent move to Cape Town, where she became the Director of the Hatter Institute for Cardiovascular Research.
Bringing her unique passion for Africa and for helping put an end to Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD), Â she reflects on the path that led her to being elected as the first African WHF President.
She also reveals her long-term vision for the CVD community during her remarkable 6 year tenure at WHF, firstly as President-Elect, then as the current President and ultimately as Past President. Karen shares with us what makes her sad and what motivates her as she continues forward.
